But I'm just one person. Can I really make a difference?
Absolutely! This campaign can only succeed with the involvement of people like you.
Here are some ways you can help:
- Join the Oak Openings Green Ribbon Initiative. Email rbryan@bex.net or mail us at OORC P. O. Box 183, Holland, Ohio 43528 for more information.
- If you are a public official, pass a resolution supporting the initiative. Find out about important areas of Oak Openings Region habitat remaining in your jurisdiction and help preserve these areas through land acquisition, conservation easements and/or zoning.
- If you're a private citizen, write and call your public officials and ask them to support the initiative. Then encourage your neighbors to do the same!
- If you live within the region, dedicate part of your land to native plants to provide habitat for the unique species of the Oak Openings Region.
- Land Registry.
- Landowners can preserve their property forever with conservation easements.
- Donate money to the Green Ribbon Initiative. Funds will be used exclusively to protect additional Oak Openings habitat. To make a tax-deductible contribution, send your check payable to: Green Ribbon Initiative, 10420 Old State Line Rd. Swanton, OH 43558.
